Another New Year…..

Jan2013and a new sewing plan. The contents of my wardrobe have seen better days ,in some cases the contents are threadbare,  literally  I gave up clothes shopping some years ago, in part due to frustrations with fit, being a proportional petite brings with it a whole heap of fitting issues but, also because I just dislike the notion of not knowing if the clothing I’m buying has been produced in a fair and ethical environment.

Being a working mother, I struggle with fitting sewing into my life, so inspired by several posts in the blog-o-sphere, I’ve started to try to fit 10 minutes of sewing into my day. This holiday, I’ve managed to get to the sewing machine for small stretches of time and this has really worked for me. I’ve finished the Hoodie from the Craftsy course ‘Sewing with Knits’ (show and tell to follow) and although I’ve sewn with knits before, I’ve learnt a lot about both knits and my sewing machine during this make.

The sewing plan above is what I hope to achieve this month, although I should confess here, I’m fickle, so I’m likely to change my mind on the exact garments that are outlined. I’m pretty sure that I will not be making those Burda trousers right now, I’ve been watching the Sandra Betzina Craftsy course, so it will probably be Vogue 2948 that I make, if only to ensure that I get a good fit. The Lydia T is on my cutting table so once the hoodie is pressed and the threads trimmed. I’m good to go.

And maybe next new year, I can look back with a small degree of satisfaction and a whole new (non threadbare) wardrobe.
